The Art of London ‘Augmented Reality Art Gallery’

The Art of London's 'Augmented Reality Art Gallery' is now on with a portrait of 'Jazzie B' just outside our doors

In partnership with National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Royal Academy and broadcast partner Sky Arts, The Heart of London Business Alliance’s Augmented Gallery can now be viewed just outside our doors. The portrait of iconic DJ, music producer and founder of Soul II Soul, ‘Jazzie B’, OBE can be seen on our exterior walls, on the corner of Piccadilly and Arlington Street. The piece is by ‘Portrait Artist of the Year 2019’ finalist Tom Mead and was donated by Sky Arts.

To view the portrait, download the Art of London app for IOS  here and for Android here.

This cutting-edge public art initiative brings together classic art pieces outdoors using augmented reality to present the art gallery of the future. Classic paintings and modern works on the trail include pieces by artists such as Titian, Vincent van Gogh, Ishbel Myerscough and Tracey Emin.

The trail of gallery-style plaques, each joined by Art of London stencil markers, appears on walls around the West End, from Piccadilly Circus to Cecil court, St. Martin’s Lane to Orange Street. Each artwork provides commentary options, taking users through journeys into the masterpieces, through interesting facts and titbits. These are provided by curators from the partner galleries, as well as celebrity art fan, and much-loved comedian, James Acaster. Commentary for the Sky Arts portraits will be provided by Portrait Artist of the Year presenter Stephen Mangan.
