Cocktail Recipe: Old Fashioned

How to make a perfect Old Fashioned at home.

Dating back to the 1800s, the Old Fashioned has long been a favourite among cocktail connoisseurs. The beauty of an Old Fashioned lies in the simplicity of making one and it still reigns today as one of the most popular classics around.

50ml Woodford Reserve
1 brown sugar cube
1-2 dashes Angostura Bitters
1 dash Orange Bitters
Garnish: Orange Peel

Soak the sugar cube in angostura bitters, crush it on the bottom of a large rocks glass.

Add ice and the bourbon into the glass in stages.

Repeat the procedure until the sugar is melted.

Garnish with an orange twist.

Best served in:

The Wolseley’s crystal tumblers. These short rocks glasses are ideal for serving spirits such as whisky ‘on the rocks’, and are perhaps best known for serving cocktails such as the Old Fashioned. Crafted in Italy from pure crystal and hand-finished with 22-carat gold detailing, they make a fine addition to any after-dinner drinks collection.
